Hill Country Cobble 1-4 River Rock
Hill Country Cobble 1-4″ is a natural river rock in warm tan, gray, and cream tones, with a mix of smooth, weathered stones and occasional rougher, sun-baked pieces for texture. Spanning a wider size range than our 1-2″ cobble, this material works for both walkable pathways at the smaller end and heavier drainage or accent applications at the larger end

Recommended Uses for Large River Rock
Hill Country Cobble 1-4″ covers a wide enough size range to work for both walkable areas and heavier landscaping applications:
- Pathways and walkways: At the smaller end of the range (1-3″), this river rock creates a comfortable, even walking surface that holds up better than smaller pea gravel.
- Water features: A natural fit for pond edges, dry creek beds, and stream features, where the mix of sizes creates a realistic riverbed look.
- Garden beds and borders: Larger stones toward the top of the range make strong standalone accents or definition along beds and pathways.
- Drainage applications: The larger stones (3-4″) allow strong water flow, useful for French drains and areas with heavier runoff.
- Erosion control: At the top of its size range, this cobble helps stabilize soil on mild slopes and embankments better than smaller decorative stone.

How does Delivery work?
Here at the Rock Depot, we try to make the delivery process as pain-free as possible.
- Where do you deliver? We typically deliver to your driveway, though special requests can be made and are up to the discretion of the driver.
- Are all drop locations accessible? Most drop locations are accessible unless you order 25 tons or more, which requires an 18-wheeler delivery and may need special access considerations.
- Do I need to be there when they deliver? No, but it is highly recommended that someone be there to direct the driver. Once the material is dropped, not much can be done about it.
- Can you spread the material? Due to the nature of a dump trailer, we aren’t able to spread the material very much. If there is room, we are able to drag drop the material to make the pile more manageable. For comprehensive landscaping, contact Padre Landscapes at (361)-949-6999
- How much material can you haul at a time? For most deliveries, we can haul up to 6 cubic yards at a time. If you purchase 25 tons or more, the delivery will be carried out with an 18-wheeler. For larger orders, see our Wholesale Materials page
Material Disclaimer
Due to the delivery process, your material may look a different color (usually a lighter color) from the desired look upon dumping. This is due to dust buildup from transferring material. Thoroughly wash the material after installation to achieve the correct look.
How Much River Rock Do You Need?
One cubic yard usually covers anywhere from 60-100 square feet, depending on thickness — larger stones in this size range require more material for full coverage than smaller gravel.
